There are obvious differences between high school life and college life.First, college students will live in the dormitory with classmates who come from various places, and who may have different living habits.Second, college teachers ,instead of explaning in detail how to solve every problem, might only tell different approaches to the problem, and leave students to study and solve problems independently. Finally, in college, there is more free time for students to spend on.

However how should the college freshman adapt himself to these differeces.First of all,he should learn to be tolerant and consider more for others, which is necessary for group living. Moreover he should take active part in collective activities and make more communication with classmates and teachers. It will help he be smoothly integrated with your new environment.Besides,as to study,he should develop a good habit of self-teaching and learn to arrange study independently.

Of course,it may take a freshman some while to become accustomed to the study and life in college. However,we all have to accept constant challenges of new things in our life.To conclude, college students should try to adapt himself to college life as soon as possible,so as to take full advantages of their precious college time.

The tape recorder is one of the most welcome and popular electronic devices ever invented.Nowadays, almost every family has a tape recorder. because it can record and replay people's voice or popular songs that people would like to listen to more than once,it has been warmly welcome since the day it was invented.

This device is useful in many ways. for eample,if a journalist has a recorder, he may record what the spokesman says, saving a lot of his energy. If a student has a recorder,he can use it to improve his listening comprehension. Moreover,he can also record his own voice to practice his spoken language.Above all,the tape recorder can be used widely in our work, study and everyday life.

However,it can also become a nuisance. If it is played in too loud a voice,a recorder will not only cause damage to the listeners hearing but also disturb the work and study of others.Surely, everything has its advantages and disadvantages.Only when used properly, will it make our life happier and more meaningful.

Asked about which symbol can represent ones identity, the first answer occurring to most people, I believe, should be their names. Bingo! Every single person owns a particular name, which uniquely refers to this individual. Name is such an essential part of personal life that it is deliberately considered by parents or grandparents even before his/her birth. Moreover, the name will be with person for a whole life, widely used under any situation, such as filling in registration forms, or a topic of conversations, to name just a few.

However, some people hold different views regarding the necessity of names. They argue that name is no more than an arbitrary symbol. Also, they believe that the good wishes the names express to the person are merely imagination. In this sense, they dont think names are of any great importance.

As far as I am concerned, owning a name is good for the orderly organization of our society. Also, names indicate the long history and culture and express our good wishes for our life and future.

  A Star Teacher

Like most of my classmates, I regard our biochemistry teacherProfessor Wang Weida as a star teacher, for he has many of the qualities that students appreciate in an instructor.

First, he organizes the class well. We particularly welcome the schedules of assignments that he gives us at the beginning of the term.Having an idea of an entire frame of the knowledge planned to learn in the semester, we are able to budget our time more efficiently. Moreover, Professor Wang promptly corrects and returns papers and tests, which enables students to learn from their mistakes and to produce better work in their next as signments.

Second, he is patient. When introducing new and difficult points, he tries to explain it fully. What's more, he pays serious attention to all our questions. In his lecture, we never feel embarrassed to ask a weak or irrelevant question.

Third, Professor Wang expresses himself clearly. He does not speak too fast, and his voice is loud so that it can be heard by everyone in the room.

Finally, he is really an interesting guy. He grasps the attention of his class through his sense of humor. To emphasize important points in a lecture, he often tells witty stories about it and impresses us deeply in laughing.

A thoughtful and dedicated man, Professor Wang is generally regarded as a successful university instructor.

关键词,写一篇120个词左右的短文:health , surrounded by , smog , anything but , gases , impurities , absorb , poisonous , try hard , blacked out

We all know that clean air is important to good health. Wherever you go and whatever you do, you are always surrounded by a sea of gases that we call air. If there are impurities in the air, they may be absorbed by our bodies and make us ill. We need clean air, but unfortunately , air pollution is globally present , especially in cities.

Many large cities are anything but pollution-free. Our cities have many factories, which we need to make food, clothing and other things. Every year these factories pour millions upon millions of tons of smog into air. Power plants and houses that burn coal add greatly to air pollution. Besides , there are more cars in cities now. Once out on the streets, they will take in fresh air and replace it with poisonous gases.

Our country is trying hard to prevent and control air pollution. As long as every citizen also realizes its importance and makes join efforts, the day will come soon when people will take in only clean air. Then , the sunlight will no longer be blackened out by smoke and soot.

Thirdly, modern conveniences such as radio, TV, internet, various vehicles and labour-saving machines in the home, all greatly facilitate human communication, transportation and housework as well.

Nevertheless, living in the 21st century also has its disadvantages. The most serious one is the increasingly polluted environment; air is filled with smog and water is contaminated by iehemicals from factories.Another main disadvantage is the personalization of human relattonships which mostly result from people’s ever-increasing contact with machines and numbers. Still one more disadvantage is the weakening of spiritual values. An undeniable fact is that a large number of people are solely interested in materialistic culture, while neglecting spiritual civilization. Limited by space, we have to skip the examples.

In conclusion, although the 21st century has indeed given us a lot of advantages, it may not have made us wiser, because it has also made our earth dirtier, our people less humane, and our spirituali iife poorer, We shpuld continue to enjoy the benefits of technological advancement, however, we must

make a concerted effort to preserve our natural environment for future generations. Moreover, we should take the time now to make our lives more meaningful in anihcreasingly impersonal, computerized world.

great days to be remembered seldom come, but small ones surround us daily.

i do not have a roman holiday, but i have a non smoking day instead.

today a nc-smoking sign easily hooks up my interesting and rewarding eperience on the world non smoking day a few years

as a high school student, i, together with my friends, volunteered on a campaign to discourage public smoking by persuacling people in public places to etinguish their cigarettes and put the cigarette ends into our metal boes. and we would in return give them a memorial sticker bearing patterns and words voicing the theme of the non smoking day.

the first step is never a fast step. after hunting for quite a while, we set our target on a young man who was enjoying his cigarette at a bus stop. embracing the philosophy of "nothing ventured, nothing gained", we summoned up all our courage, walked up and asked, "sir, would you please not smoke in public places?" "it is none of your business! why are you so busily engaged in such things? go and mind your own eams!" he was great, i believed, for he was able to drag on his cigarette while at the same time not giving his tongue a break. and i further found out that for this man, such words as "good for your health" or "good for common courtesy" had long lost their appeal. maybe such kind of situation should call for some other policy. i managed a smile, blended with sweet words and tried to dilute his resistance. and when we put the sticker on his clothes, he was lingering over the joy of having done us "a big favor."

now you see, maybe flattery should be vindicated, for to please is a great step toward persuading and a smile is a curve that sets everything straight.

our work ran smoothly when things began easy to handle in the afternoon. but don't worry. troubles are just around the corner. the second hard rock we met was a middle aged man who appeared to be more of a smoking addict than a smokingenthusiast. nothing seemed to be capable of etinguishing that cigarette. even the wind seemed to be powerless. we showed him the cigarettes filled metal bo. we spotlighted the hazards of public smoking. but all was in vain.

mark twain was right, habit is habit, not to be flung out of window by anyone, but to be coaed downstairs one step at a time. i then tried to peel the stubborn onion one layer at a time."ok, i know how you feel. but do you know how other people around you feel?" "you see that child? actually he smokes more of your cigarette than you do!" "in fact, you are etinguishing one cell of lung cancer when you etinguish your cigarette. you are etinguishing one cell of the disease of selfishness when you etinguish your cigarette." it is that maybe that constant drops do wear the stone. at last he etinguished our words by etinguishing his cigarette.

as the sinking sun tinted the horizon, we began to count the cigarette ends, savoring our little victories.

that day saw me toiling for 6 hours, inviting loads of troubles, collecting 57 cigarette-ends,savoring hundreds of potential second hand smokers and developing for myself some sense of responsibility toward society.

though it was a little depressing to realize that those people would naturally pick up their "tradition" just where they had temporarily laid it down, yet how far can we estimate our actions would travel! and besides that, i was rewarded in another day.that is, the eperience dawned upon me the significance of care and consideration for other people. since then, i have been as cooperative as possible whenever i am asked to improve my public behavior and i am always ready to get involved in such volunteer work.

in a sense, the highest reward for ones toil is not what they get from it but what they become by it.

Is a college degree necessary in today's world?

Because a 4—year college education requires a large commitment of time, effort, and money。 Many high school graduates decide not to go to college。 They enter the work force immediately, or decide to go to a vocational or trade school instead of college。 Is a college degree really necessary these days? Despite the expense and delay in entering the work force, I strongly believe that a 4—year college education is necessary and desirable in today's world。

One major reason to go to college is that college provides necessary academic background for a career。 During four or more years in college, students have time and resources to explore many different areas in the humanities人文学科, social sciences, science, and professional fields such as business and engineering, and to take a variety of academic courses that will provide important background for particular careers。

A second important argument for the value of college is that people with college degrees have better job opportunities and higher income level than people who have only a high school or vocational school education, so college means a better quality of life。 Job opportunities and starting salaries are generally excellent for people with college degrees while the employment outlook may not be so cheerful for those with only a high school diploma。

Also, college tends to provide a labor force with a certain knowledge and skill, which is beneficial to the advancement of our society。 Students who exercise their minds and develop strategies to deal with hard problems over four years of college are likely to graduate with many skills and strategies that can be transferred to dealing with tasks later in life, both on the job and in their personal life。 This will surely contribute to the progress of the world。

In summary, there are many good arguments in support of the value of a 4—year college education。 Moreover, the benefits far outweigh the problems and expense。 I firmly believe that everyone who wants to have a bright future should go to college。
