Life of High Quality
Several days ago, I came across one of my friends in a birthday party of another friend. After a short greeting, he was too impatient to wait to compare his life style with the rest of the people at present, and drew a conclusion that people should pursue a life of high quality. And then, he told us very proudly that his life was really of high quality. As somewhat head of a branch of a company, he begins his morning with breathing deeply the fresh air with fragrance of green grass outside his office. Then he will read "Huashang Newspaper" already piled orderly on his desk. After that, he usually takes exercises in the company's gymnasium. Only in the afternoon, he may work for about two hours.Until now, his proud expression is still very vivid in my memory. I can't help asking myself what is exactly life of high quality. Does the lifestyle like that of my friend deserve to be advocated? When thinking about it carefully and deeply, I have eliminated my doubt. I don't think that kind of life is of high quality. And I have my own interpretation of life of high quality.
First, high quality life means that for one thing you have a positive attitude towards life. In my point of view, when you bear a positive attitude to life, you will set a goal appropriate to yourself. And in that case, you will make an appropriate plan for your ideal and make great efforts to approach the goal bit by bit. In the course of realizing the ideal, you will inevitably come across difficulties or barriers. Only with positive attitude toward life in mind, could you analyze the problem calmly, and solve the problem properly. Finally, you will surely overcome the difficulties and successfully step further to the destination. It can be imagined that without positive attitude toward life, you are easily knocked down by difficulty and give up halfway. It's obvious that achieving the goal successfully is an indispensable part of life of high quality.
Second, you lead a life of high quality if you feel life is meaningful. In the first place, you feel life is meaningful when you are interested in what you are doing. When you are doing something interesting you very much, you will devote to what you are doing wholeheartedly and with great pleasure. In this circumstance, you may achieve a lot in what you are doing and obtain even more pleasure and interest in it. In the second place, you feel life is meaningful if you believe that what you are doing is meaningful. If what you are doing and interested in doing is little useful or even harmful to other people or the society as a whole, your life will by no means be beneficial to the society. If what you are doing is of little value to others other than interest yourself, how could you regard it as meaningful?
Third, the high quality of life refers not only to material enjoyment but also spiritual one. Comparatively speaking, the high quality of material life is easy to get. Sometimes some people will take it for granted that possessing big house and luxury car is equal to leading a life of high quality. As far as I am concerned, it is far from that. If a millionaire is not happy at all, can his life still be considered as high quality? Spiritual pursuit is a very important part of your life. And to some extent, it is thought of more important than material satisfaction.
Now, I am no longer puzzled about the problem of what is the true value of life. Of course, I hope my life is of high quality. Therefore, I will adopt a positive attitude toward life, taste meaningful life, and pursue not only material enjoyment but also the spiritual one.
