1、Who will go to the conference is not important. 从句who will go to the conference是主语,即主语从句。

2、The question is whether we shall run out of food soon. is前面的the question就应该是句子主语,后面的从句whether we shall run out of food是表语,即表语从句。

3、His mother who loved him very much died in 1818. 前面的分析让我们形成一种推理的习惯,即who引导的句子为从句,那么who loved him very much 应该是从句,而his mother died in 1818应该是主句。 因此,who loved him very much是定语从句。

  1. 表示年、月、日、时刻等用 at, on, in

  at nine (o'clock) 在九点

  at dawn 拂晓时

  at noon 正午时

  at present目前

  on Monday 在周一

  on June 6 在6月6日

  on May 4, 1996 在1996年5月4日

  on a cold night

on the night of July 1st

  in the morning 在早上

  on New Year's Day 在元旦

  in this week 在这周

  in May 在五月

  in spring 在春季

  in 2010 在2010年

  in September, 1995 在1995年9月

  in the morning 在早上

  2. 表示期间等用 for, during, through/throughout

We will stay in the city for two days.

He has lived here for a long time.

如:during the spring, during last year, during 1980 等,也可以和表示延续性事件的名词连用,如:during my childhood, during the lesson, during his visit等。

  in与during:

Don't go to see his wife in his absence.

He came to see me during my absence.

They visited many cities during their stay in China.

Her grandpa was killed in the war.

  c) through/throughout 表示“一直……”,强调从开始到结束:

They played the cards throughout the night.

I'll be staying at camp for five days, Monday through Friday.

  1. 表示期限等用 before, by, until/till, (from...) to, within, in

  a) before与by

  before 指“在……

Please come before ten o'clock.

  by 指“在……

How many English books had you read by the end of last year?

How many models have you made by the end of last month?

  b) until/till与to

  until/till 指“直到……

I'll wait for him until he comes here.

  We didn't begin to watch TV until/till nine o'clock.

  till/until 常用于"from...till/until"结构中,表示“一个动作的终结”;to 常用在"from...to"的结构中,用来表示“一个阶段的终结”。

He studies from morning till/until night everyday.

The Americans stayed here from June to September.

Let's start now and work till dark.

  c) within与in

within 强调“在……

He will be back in five hours.

They worked hard. They finished the work within 2 days at last.

I must finish painting the cat within/in five minutes.

  a) from 表示“从……

The meeting will be held from eight to ten.

The exam will start from/at 9:00 am.

  b) since 指“自从……

I have been sick since yesterday.

We have been missing them since they left here.

  1. at, in, on

He arrived in Shanghai yesterday.

They arrived at a small village before dark.

There is a big hole in the wall.

The teacher hung a picture on the wall.

  2. over, above, on

  over, on 和 above 都可表示“在……

There is a bridge over the river.

We flew above the clouds.

They put some flowers on the teacher's desk.

  3. across, through

The dog ran across the grass.

The boy swam across the river.

They walked through the forest.

I pushed through the crowds.

  4. in front of, in the front of

in front of 表示“在某人或某物的前面”,在某个范围以外;in the front of 表示“在……

There are some tall trees in front of the building.

The teacher is sitting in the front of the classroom.

  5. among, between

I bought three hundred eggs and there was not a single bad one among them.

What's the difference between Asian elephants and African elephants?

Among" is used of people or things considered as a group. "Between" is used of people or things, either two in number or more than two considered individually.

He stood among the crowd.

There is a thief among you.

She divided the money among her three children.

A treaty was signed between Great Britain, France and the United States.

Ecuador lies between Columbia, Peru, and the Pacific Ocean.

The three children saved over a hundred pounds between them.

The three men tried to lift the box between them.

They finished the work among themselves.

-I've had no sleep for 48 hours.

-You must be very tired.

They left yesterday. They should be home by now.

  Smoking can cause cancer.

Don't play with the knife. You may cut yourself.

They saw something in the sky last night. It could/might be a UFO.

You may/might/could be very tired.

The story sounds reasonable, but it can't be true.

He may not/might not be at home.

Who can it be? Can it be Jenny?

The money has disappeared! Who could have taken it?

Oh, how could you be so stupid?
