Dear Peter, How are you doing? I’m writing to tell you that my uncle Li Ming is going to your city for a conference, and I’ve asked him to bring you the Chinese painting you’ve asked for before。
Also, I’d like you to do me a favor. Would you please meet my uncle at the airport and take him to his hotel since this is his first visit to the U.S.? Thank you in advance! His flight number is CA985, and it will arrive at 11:30 am, August 6. My uncle is tall and he is wearing glasses. And he will be in a blue jacket。
Looking forward to your reply。 Yours, Li Hua
Dear Tom, I’m so hapy to learn that you want to learn Chinese in Zunyi Teachers’ College here. There is no doubt that to learn Chinese well is by no means an easy thing, but I have some ideas that may help. Firstly, it is important to listen to the teacher carefully in class and take notes so that you can go over your lessons later.Secondly, try to practise speaking Chinese as much as possible out of class and write down whatever you hear to accunulate more commonly-used words and idioms.Don’t be afraid of making mistakes. And try to communicate with local people to develop your listening ability.Last but not least, you should organize your time and do lots of exercise. I think the most important thing is that you should believe in yourself.I’m sure that you will suceed after your hard work. Yours, Wang Hua
Dear Xiaoming,I’m so excited about my trip to xining. Now i am writing to ask you for help. Can you answer my questions? Thanks!
First, what is the weather like in your city? Does it snow a lot in winter? I need to have the right kinds of clothes and shoes. Next, what kind of food do you ususally have in your family? Finally, what festival do you have during my stay in xining? I will arrive on dec. 28 and leave on feb. 26. I hope there are more interesting things to do together with your family. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Dear Lucy,I am sorry to hear that you are feeling upset because of some problems met during studying Chinese. You said that you would feel nervous when facing this language and you did bad in listening. You couldn't improve your oral Chinese and you found it difficult to communicate with your classmates in Chinese.Well, don't worry. I will give you some suggestions. Firstly, like English, Chinese is a language, which we learn to communicate. So you need to practice speaking in Chinese as often as possible, which will help to improve your oran Chinese and improve your sense of the language. Secondly, you can listen to Chinese radio program, for this is a very useful way to improve your listening ability. Thirdly, be brave enough to make some Chinese friends.Close friendship will help you learn this language well. And doing some reading will help you learn more. I hope these can help you. Best wishes!
yours, Wang Xia
