　　“Oh, hi, Mom, I was calling to speak with dad, but I guess he isn’t around,” I said. But my dad said on the other line, “Hi, Steve, it’s your dad. What’s up?” I said, “Oh, hey dad. Well, there is something I wanted to tell you.” I stopped for a while and went on, “I just realized that it must have been really hard for you and mom to bring me up. I just want to tell you that you did a great job raising me and that I’m responsible for raising myself from now on. I also want to let you know that I care for you and that I love you very much.”

　　Dad said, “Well, your mom and I want you to know that we are really proud of you and your brother.”That statement “I’m proud of you” completely changed me. It was the first time that I heard him say those words.My dad and I have an amazing relationship now. And I’m so happy that he is a part of my life.
