一、重点读定位处，锁定线索词

这是七选五的一篇大纲样题，要求填充段首所缺的部分内容。此时需要重点阅读空缺之后的内容，寻找线索词。About 75 million years ago the Age of Reptiles was over and most of the groups died out. 主干意思是说爬行动物的时代结束了，大多数已经灭亡。根据语义衔接可判定前句应该出现爬行动物。根据此线索找到C选项，最后一句即是在谈The amphibians gave rise to the reptiles爬行动物出现。
二、利用逻辑关联词，理顺逻辑关系
Today, the social sciences are largely focused on disciplinary problems and internal scholarly debates, rather than on topics with external impact. 既然大纲规定新题型重在考察一致性与连贯性，那么题目中必然有很多考点涉及到逻辑衔接关系。为了保持一致与连贯，句子之间通常会用逻辑关联词表示衔接和过渡。比如2013年的这道真题，要求补全段落的后半部分，所以重点读前面的句子。the number of papers have increased rapidly.在讲论文的数量快速增加了，后文也应当谈及论文数量的话题。B选项正是在谈the numbers 数量问题，并且与前文构成转折关系。所以遇到逻辑关联词，我们可以通过理顺逻辑关系的方法来确定选项。
