　　当上小志愿者的第一节下课，图书馆一切的.事物对我来说;都是一个问号，替别人影印资料时，一不小心!按错一个钮，出纸的地方出现了一张只有资料四分之一的纸，使我得自己掏腰包了。

　　牺牲午休时间去图书馆工作的我，更加谨慎的补书，眼见这么多破烂的书，心想“能有这么好的读书环境，竟然不好好珍惜”心中一股气愤涌上心头。一天，在整理书时，见到了一位在破坏书的人，走上前去原想臭骂他一顿，但一想到孔子说：“道之以政，齐之以刑，民免而无耻。道之以德，齐之以礼，有耻且格。”我也不生气了，只好用道德来规劝他，才能在没人的时候，也不会再破坏书。

　　忙碌之余，老师也叫我们看书，以增广见闻。在搬那沉重的书时，其实，想想看，这不但帮老师省麻烦，也增强自己的体力，一举二得，有何不可呢?

　　身为小志愿者的我，虽然累了一点儿，但替老师分担了许多事物;我也很快乐，因为“助人为快乐之本”呀!

Some evil spell had settled on the community : mysterious maladies swept the flocks of chickens ; the cattle and sheep sickened and died . Everywhere was a shadow of death. The farmers spoke of much illness among their families. In the town the doctors had become more and more puzzled by new kinds of sickness appearing among their patients . There had been several sudden and unexplained deaths not only among adults but even among children ， who would be stricken suddenly while at play and die within a few hours.

　　There was a strange stillness. The birds， for example ---where had they gone ?Many people spoke of them， puzzled and disturbed. The feeding stations in the backyards were deserted. The roadsides ， once so attractive， were now lined with browned and withered vegetation as though swept by fire . There ， too， were silent ， deserted by all living things .Even the streams were now lifeless. Anglers no longer visited them ， for all the fish had died. In the gutters under the eaves and between the shingles of the roofs ， a white granular powder still showed a few patches ： some weeks before it had fallen like snow upon the roofs and the lawns， the fields and sreams.
