时光荏苒，时间来去匆匆，一转眼，六年的小学生活结束了，我们即将告别多彩的童年，迎来辉煌的少年时代。今天——七月三日——这是一个不同寻常的日子，是我最后一次以一个小学生的身份踏入我的母校——进修附小。
早晨，我怀着复杂的心情踏入了熟悉的校园。来到教室，我见到了昔日朝夕相处的同学，他们个个神采奕奕，让这仅剩的一点时间中再次充满欢乐，让宽敞明亮的教室再次洋溢着欢声笑语……真希望时间能停止在这美好的一刻啊！
毕业典礼开始了，在两棵百年凤凰榕下，同学们整齐得站着，每个同学的家长则坐在后面的椅子上。在斗志高昂的国歌，校歌动人的旋律中，王校长，学生代表，家长代表纷纷在凤凰榕下致词，那一字字，一句句文字之间都流露着这依依惜别之情和衷心的祝愿之情。老师，谢谢您，让我从幼稚走到了成熟，让我从无知变得懂事……谢谢您……
紧接着我们拿到了《凤凰榕树下》这本书，这是一本汇编我们同届同学的'毕业文集，它把我们都定格了，记录了我们在附小留下的深深的脚印。这本书，不同于任何书籍，它是同学发自心灵的感叹与老师孜孜不倦地教导的结晶。
到了颁发毕业证书的时刻了，只见老师手里捧着一叠毕业证书，交给四位组长，然后由组长颁发到每个同学手中。但我拿着这本证书，心情好沉重，不知是该高兴还是该难过！高兴的是这本证书是小学六年学习的见证，它关闭了我们的丰富多彩的小学生活，同时也打开了我们通往多姿多彩的中学生活的大门；难过的是拿到这本证书后大家就要分开了……这本小小的毕业证书好重……好重……
我们能有今天，离不开父母鼓励和无微不至的照顾，父母恩，比山高，比海深，我们应当懂得感恩，于是同学们纷纷给自己的父母献上了一份真诚的礼物。我捧着礼物，走到爸爸面前，送给爸爸：“爸爸，这是放在汽车里面的，上面的四个字‘一帆风顺’，是我对您的祝福，谢谢您从小到大对我的无私的爱……。”

The complications frequently accompanying diabetes, such as impairment of vision and of kidney function, are now thought to result from the lack of continuous control of blood glucose concentrations. The healthy pancreas, in response to increases in blood glucose concentration, releases small quantities of insulin throughout the day and thereby maintains the concentration within physiological limits . But the diabetic generally receives only one large dose daily. The diabetics blood glucose concentration can thus fluctuate greatly during the interval between doses, and it has been suggested that the complication result from the periods of high concentrations of blood glucose . Many investigators thus believe that restoration of normoglycemia might halt the progression of such complications and perhaps even reverse them.
There are three primary techniques that have been investigated for restoration of normoglycemia. They are: transplantation of whole, healthy pancreases; transplantation of islets of Langerthan, that portion of the pancreas that actually secretes insulin, and implantation of artificial pancreases. There has, in fact been a great deal of success in the development of these techniques and each seems, on the whole, promising. Nonetheless, it will undoubtedly be many years before any one of them is accepted as a treatment for diabetes.
To many people, the obvious approach would seem to be simply to transplant pancreases from cadavers in the same manner that kidneys and other organs are routinely transplanted. That was the rationale in 1966 when the first recorded pancreas was performed. Between 1960 and 1975, there were forty-six pancreas transplants in forty-five other patients in the United States and five other countries. But only one of these patients is still alive with a functioning graft and surgeons have found that the procedure is not simple as they once thought.

I've opened the curtain of my east window here, and I sit now in a holy theater before a sky-blue stage. A little cloud above the neighbor's trees resembles Jimmy Durante's nose for a while, then becomes amorphous as it slips on north. Other clouds follow, big and little and tiny on their march toward whereness. Wisps of them lead or droop because there must always be leading and drooping.
The trees seem to laugh at the clouds while yet reaching for them with swaying branches. Trees must think that they are real, rooted, somebody, and that perhaps the clouds are only tickled5 water which sometimes blocks their sun. But trees are clouds, too, of green leaves—clouds that only move a little. Trees grow and change and disappear like their airborne cousins.
And what am I but a cloud of thoughts and feelings and aspirations? Don't I put out tentative mists here and there? Don't I occasionally appear to other people as a ridiculous shape of thoughts without my intending to? Don't I drift toward the north when I feel the breezes of love and the warmth of compassion?
If clouds are beings, and beings are clouds, are we not all well advised to drift, to feel the wind tucking us in here and plucking us out there? Are we such rock-hard bodily lumps as we imagine?
Drift, let me. Sing to the sky, will I. One in many, are we. Let us breathe the breeze and find therein our roots in the spirit.
I close the curtain now, feeling broader, fresher. The act is over. Applause is sweeping through the trees.
