　　How are you? Im really glad that you are interested in traditional Chinese festivals. There are many traditional festivals in China, such as Spring Festival, Mid-Autumn Day and so on. Id like to introduce the Spring Festival to you. Spring Festival is the most important traditional holiday in China. It usually lasts for 15 days.

　　Days before the festival, people clean their houses. They think cleaning sweeps any bad luck. They decorate their houses with paper cuts. On the eve of the festival, family members get together and have big meals. Then they watch the Spring Festival Gala on TV. At midnight, they set off fireworks to welcome the new year. During the festival, kids get lucky money from old people. People visit their relatives and friends. They wish each a happy year and good luck. How happy we are.

　　对于绝大多数的普通学习者来说，“背”单词简直就是恶梦。一年又一年，一日复一日，大家辛辛苦苦地“背”单词，到头来却总是一场空：听不懂、读不懂、说不出。有时，也可以在考试前急就章地“背”一些应付考试的单词，但一旦考试过后就像扔垃圾一样遗忘了。

　　其实，绝大多数的英语单词都用不着硬记。有很多单词，只要成人们稍微帮助做一些分析，孩子们记忆起来就会像游戏一样轻松、开心。

　　这里我们就以hamburger为例：

　　hamburger[5hAmbE:^E]n.<美> 碎牛肉, 牛肉饼, 汉堡包（hamburg+er）

　　如果大家硬是要把hamburger分解成h，a，m，b，u，r，g，e，r这样去读、记，您是在做无用功！按照这样的方法记忆单词，到3千单词时就基本到极限。如果大人们采用强制性手段强迫孩子们这样做，相当于残酷地剥夺了孩子们轻松、愉快地学习英语的权力。

　　Hamburg中的ham本身也是一个单词：

　　请复习am, cam, Cambridge(剑桥)。

　　把ham和burg组合起来就成了Hamburg。

　　如果大家知道ham有“小村庄”的意思，再学习Hamlet就容易了：

　　大家如果已经掌握pear（相信没有几个孩子会害怕它），在后面加上一个l就成了pearl（珍珠）。

　　在pear前面加上一个s就成了spear：

　　spear[spiE]n.矛, 标枪, 梭标, 鱼叉，持矛者[兵]

　　光线，(草的)嫩叶, 幼苗[芽]

　　[s]后的[p]有时浊化成[b]，请复习speech, speak, spark，spring。

　　前面我们学习过shark（鲨鱼），还有的小朋友学习过milk shake:

　　milk shake n.奶昔(即泡沫牛奶,将牛奶和冰激凌等混合后搅打至起泡的饮料)

　　希望大家认真地掌握shake：

　　shake[Feik]vt.摇动; 摇撼; 使震动; 动摇(信念, 决心等)

　　结尾的e不发音，元音字母a发其字母音[ei]，请复习cake, make, take, lake, wake。

　　把shake和spear组合在一起，最后再加上一个e就成了Shakespeare:

　　Shakespeare n.莎士比亚(1564-1616,英国剧作家,诗人,作有37部戏剧,154首十四行诗和2首长诗)(shake+spear+e)

　　有人说：鲁迅的文章像是一把匕首，也有人说莎士比亚的文章像是“摇动的矛枪”。当然还有人说出更加“深奥（abstruseness）”的含义，不过有些“少儿不宜”，这里就省略了。

　　这个abstruseness其实很好记，你只要大概地读一读就可以了：

　　abstruseness n.难解, 深奥（abstruse+ness）

　　abstruse[Ab5stru:s]adj.奥妙的, 深奥的(abs+truse)

　　abs-, ab- [离开]

　　truse表“推”

　　联想记忆：
