On 22nd September 1976, there was a boy called Ronaldo Luiz Nazario DaLima born at 9:30 am at Sao Francisco Javier hospital in Rio de Janerio, Brazil. Before his birth, his family had already a daughter, Lone, and a son, Nelinho. Later on, Ronaldo got a nickname, Dadado, which was what his sister called him because she couldn't pronounce his name properly but now, no one would call him Dadado.1976年9月22号清晨9：30，在巴西里约热内卢的Sao Francisco Javier 医院有个叫罗纳尔多，露伊茨.纳扎里奥 达 利马的男孩出生了，在他降临人世前，他家已经有了姐姐罗娜，和哥哥奈林荷。不久，罗纳尔多有了个外号，达达多，是她姐姐给他起的，因为她的发发不准确，现在没人会叫他达达多。
Ronaldo grew up in Bento Ribeiro, a suburb of Rio. He was obsessed with football from a very young age. His mother Sonia said that he used to talk in his sleep, shouting: 'Pass it, pass it, let me score!' and kicking his legs in the air. During his childhood, Ronaldo wanted to be a soldier or play the bass drum. He did not have much interest in school, but Portuguese and English were his best subjects. When he was four, his father, Nelio, gave him a football as Christmas gift. From then on, he used to play it every day.

His father said: 'He liked to challenge other kids to see who could keep the ball up the longest. Ronaldo loved sweets, and every time he came back home with a cake or lollipop in his hand. Zico was Ronaldo's idol. When Ronaldo was 9 years old, his father took him to watch his idol the first time playing against Vasco da Gama at Maracana stadium. Ronaldo then hoped to end his career back in Brazil playing for Flamengo.
