This article aims to survey is metaphor of modality, which is one part of Halliday's interpersonal grammatical metaphor. In this article, more attention will be given to modalization, modulation, 3 values of modality and potentiality. The writer draws a conclusion that we can apply the metaphorical configurations of modality in English to many linguistic fields.
